UGLY DUCTING
UGLY DUCTING is a fascinating fusion of inspiration and reinvention. This light experiment sculpture draws inspiration from two unexpected sources – the basic element of drawing, or what many might refer to as “scribbling,” and an everyday household item, the humble “duct hose.”
The end result is a captivating display of uneven lines, radiating with light, as if they’ve leapt out of a sketchbook to take on a 3D form. The bright, surreal “scribbling lines” transform into a fixture, seemingly floating in mid-air. The impression it conveys is that of an artist’s sketch given a tangible, luminous life of its own.

The fixture carefully cradles the duct hoses, and from certain angles, it appears as if the lines are defying gravity. It’s an exploration of the ordinary made extraordinary, a testament to the artist’s ability to see art in the most commonplace objects.
UGLY DUCTING is not just a standalone piece of art; it’s a prototype. It’s the first step in the development of an extended series of lamp designs that revolve around the theme of lines and ducting. It is a testament to Number 280’s commitment to innovation and evolution, as we continue to explore the boundaries of design and functionality.
